1.  Passenger car or commercial motor vehicle was issued a registration insignia by the department that establishes that the vehicle was registered for the period; and

2.  The registration insignia was attached to the passenger car or commercial motor vehicle before the D's first court appearance

$10.00

Transportation Code, §502.407(b)

Driving With an Expired Motor Vehicle Registration

1.  D remedies the defect not later than the 20th working day after the date of the offense; or

2.  Before the D's first court appearance date, whichever is later; and

3.  D establishes that the delinquent registration fee prescribed by Section 502.176 has been paid

*Although these dismissal fees will not be collected until 1/1/08, any pre-existing fees will continue in effect from 9/1/07 until 1/1/08.  If there is no pre-existing fee for some of these offenses, then no fee will be collected between 9/1/07 and 1/1/08

 

 

NOTE:  Effective 9/1/07, the offense of Driving While License Invalid (DWLI) has been changed to a Class C misdemeanor.  This is a reference to a Penal Code Class C, so the fine will be $1.00-$500.00.  A second DWLI offense or, if the license of the person has previously been suspended as the result of an offense involving the operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated, will be a Class B misdemeanor.
