Information Systems-Director (Full-time)

A Bachelorís Degree in Management Information Systems or a closely related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience in all phases of computer operations including five years of supervisory or management experience in information technology operations or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered, experience in PeopleSoft a plus.Candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of technology leadership.

Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all activities of the Information Systems Department to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all data processing systems to support and meet County objectives. Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

         Oversees the development, design and implementation of new application and changes to existing systems, software packages, phone systems and mail systems.

         Provide County employees with top quality, consistently available computer service, support, training, and maintenance of all computer systems used throughout the County;

         Evaluate new technology and be responsible for procuring, installing, and maintaining all computer hardware and software and all other products and supplies necessary to keep computer systems operable and to fulfill management requests for computer support.Recommend changes as appropriate;

         Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures;

         Maintain security of all data proprietary to the County and provide for the complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster.Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans;

         Act as liaison between hardware and software suppliers and County management for informational updates and problem resolution;

         Supervises department employees, including assigning and reviewing work, training, completing performance evaluations, directing and prioritizing workloads, hiring, termination;

         Prepares and administers department budgets, develops long range capital improvement plans, monitors and forecasts budget expenditures to ensure they are consistent with department goals and objectives and allocate resources within budget constraints, implements cost saving programs;

         Provides reports to the Commissionerís Court regarding new projects, on-going projects and issues that other departments consider to be necessary functions;

         Perform other duties as assigned.

Mechanic-Pct. 3 (Alvin location-Full-time)

 

High School Diploma or equivalent required, with three months training and/or experience or combination of education and experience.Candidate will repair and maintain electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks for the County by performing the following duties; test drive all equipment, read job orders, perform mechanical diagnostic and repair; install new ignition systems, alignments, change or recharge batteries, replace transmissions and other parts; overhauls gas or diesel engines; examine protective guards, loose bolts, specified safety devices and makes adjustments; lubricates moving parts and accompanies driver of repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications; fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings; regular attendance is required.Minimum starting salary is $18.76 per hour or more depending on experience and qualifications.Please apply at the Brazoria County Human Resources Dept. or applications may also be obtained and submitted at www.brazoria-county.com
