ASSISTANT COUNTY ENGINEER

As of Tuesday, April 20, 2010:

Provides technical assistance and coordinates purchasing for the four road and bridge service centers.  Administer subdivision regulations, review plat and construction plans for new development.  Approve heavy load and utility permits for submitting parties.  Acquire rights-of-way for road and bridge projects, including issuing surveying contracts, researching deed and title issues, and preparing deed records for rights-of-way.  Manage road and bridge capital projects and design contracts.  Prepare annual road plan for road maintenance and construction.  Manage drainage issues, permitting with appropriate agencies, and helps prepare an annual budget.  Assist the County Engineer in the performance of his job responsibilities and administration of county policies and regulations.

Candidate must have a four year college degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  Two or more years of experience in subdivision design or review would be desirable.  Some experience with drainage calculations, storm water management, and road and bridge construction and maintenance is necessary.  Experience with land surveying principles and practices is beneficial.  Certification/License as a professional engineer is required or obtainable within six months.  Candidate must be knowledgeable of basic engineering principles, basic computer knowledge of engineering software, basic construction plans, specifications and drawings, engineering codes and ordinances regarding county interest and issues.  General computer experience and skills MS Office software required, experience w/ CAD and/or GIS is beneficial.
